Overview

The Director, Procurement is responsible for the establishment and implementation of sourcing strategies for all purchases of services, consumables and equipment for Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and its U.S.-based affiliates.  The Director recommends and implements procurement strategies and best practices, and leads all sourcing, negotiating, contracting and purchasing activities to leverage buying power and create optimal value.  The Director works closely with management at all levels throughout the Company to insure alignment of procurement strategies and tactics with business objectives.

Responsibilities

·        Establish and maintain procurement strategies and processes to support decisions necessary to purchase goods and services in congruence with organizational objectives

·        Administer all procurement activities, including selecting sources of supply, approving purchase orders, managing relationships with suppliers and negotiating terms of contracts

·        Lead the Procurement Steering Committee, responsible for oversight of major spending projects for U.S.-based activities

·        Insure all procurement activities adhere to established company policies and procedures, and that the company is in compliance with all government procurement-related requirements

·        Develop and provide reports, activity dashboards and relevant KPIs to monitor and manage procurement activities

·        Other projects, tasks and assignments as directed

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred

·        10+ years of strategic purchasing experience, with at least 5 years in pharmaceutical industry, including significant R&D / CRO procurement experience

·        Demonstrated ability to establish a formalized procurement function

·        Demonstrated ability to negotiate pricing and contracts for optimal value

·        Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively cross-functionally with at all levels of management

·        Proactive, motivated, analytical and strategic thinker with a “roll up your sleeves” attitude and requiring limited management oversight

·        Team player, capable of wearing multiple hats
