This position will be instrumental in building strong enterprise-wide competitive intelligence capabilities across Latin America. This leader will be responsible for integrating key market information with commercial strategies.

This position will provide leadership for high-quality analyses and insights into key business issues, informing business strategies and operations and influencing decision by providing independent data driven input.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of market research plans and relationships to market research suppliers and partners.
  • Engages in significant interaction with internal stakeholders to establish, prioritize and coordinate competitive intelligence activities. Collaborates closely with cross-functional partners working across Market Research, BD&L, Forecasting, Commercial Operations, and other areas as needed.
  • Runs queries on own data and performs analysis to support decision making process.
  • Creates and develops a best-in-class competitive intelligence function: creating and setting direction for systematic process and high standards for competitive intelligence.
  • Develops on-going insights into key competitors, pharma industry trends and dynamics on topics such as competitor strategy, regulatory, market access and commercial activities.
  • Compiles and delivers business intelligence reports to end users on a regular basis and leads the regular production of core competitive intelligence deliverables for senior management.
  • Assesses the competitive environment to inform commercial strategies and support decision making.
  • Develops and delivers reports and communications that provide competitive insights and analysis of trends, issues, and opportunities.
  • Identify and develop new and/or innovative competitive/business intelligence products that lead to competitive advantage and insight into decision making.
  • Responds to ad hoc market data requests.
  • Serves as lead for implementing and maintaining internal and external partnerships for competitive intelligence activities.
  • Serves as main expert on key competitive intelligence issues for the Latin American organization.


  • 5+ years of experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, market research, competitive intelligence and/or analytics roles.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical development and commercialization process, as well as industry competitive dynamics.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage market research and budgets including: market shares analysis, understanding of retail data and equity projects.
  • Therapeutic category experience.
  • Ability to organize, synthesize and distill key information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures.
  • Competitive intelligence experience with various pharmaceutical data resources, sources and systems.
  • Understanding of pharmaceuticals, new product development, business strategy and planning processes.
  • Working knowledge of industry competitive insights tools and techniques.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and integrate marketplace data and secondary data tools into actionable insights to support decision-making.
  • Experience integrating primary and secondary market research, competitive intelligence and forecasting.
  • Knowledge and experience of secondary data sources preferred: IMS DDD/NGPS, Close-Up, etc.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing work priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills.
  • Expertise with the Microsoft office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is desirable.
  • Willing and able to travel internationally.
